Read more about the earrings I make
I'm new...how do you even make earrings out of paper?
I cut about two little square sheets of about 1 in x 1 in paper and fold them into two matching origami objects. I then lacquer them three times to harden and protect them. I spray an acrylic sealant to harden them even more, then to achieve the glossy look, I paint them with one last coat of polymer lacquer. Then I use beads and metal to turn the creations into earrings.
So like, do you make the earrings?
Yup. I do everything myself. I’m typing this right now. I make the jewelry, take the pics, set up photoshoots, manage the site, package each pair of earrings, and send them to you.
Do you just use normal paper?
Nope. The pretty paper of your origami earrings comes from all over. I love to travel, so in Japan I picked up a ton of beautifully printed washi paper, which is made of fibers, so it’s thick paper and great quality for tiny origami. Your jewelry could also be made from chiyogami paper from Japanese markets or from yuzen paper from Shanghai. There are so many different types of beautifully-printed thick paper which I like to collect to make earrings for you to wear. The paper is just so pretty. When you're purchasing a pair of origami earrings, you're getting a story from around the world.
What happens if it's raining?
The earrings are waterproof. I lacquer them three times, spray them with an acrylic sealant, then lacquer them again. The paper creations become hard and thick, so they are resist to damage and water.
How long does shipping take?
The actual USPS shipping takes about 3-5 business days, but I also need to make the earrings especially for you. So you will receive your earrings within two weeks!
These earrings aren't what I expected..what do I do?
If you're not satisfied, let me know. I do exchanges, refunds, returns...all that good stuff. Send me an email and I'll take care of it! However, since things can get busy, you must do this within 30 days of receiving your package. :)
How long does it take you to make the earrings?
Quite a while, but I love the process. It begins by choosing which origami design I want to make, selecting the best origami paper that will make that creation look amazing, then cutting the paper all the right sizes. It takes about two days to lacquer and spray the earrings because I do so many coats and need to wait for the sealant to dry. In the meantime I'm also packaging the earrings and shipping them out.
